A new brand direction and stored design that expresses the ultimate customer experience for eye health, optometry services, frame selection, sunglasses, and contact lenses. The new design focuses on and places the customer at the center of the experience. The store design reflects the customer journey from the initial eye test, frame selection, and frame fitting. The store design is to be inspired by the creation of a visually open optometry experience. Customers can see into semiprivate optometry rooms, enabling a clear vision of the well-being experience and equipment. The design allows for modern, contemporary, and well-lit retail wall displays that showcase a wide selection of brands.

MOJO HOMES INSPIRATION CENTRE

Commercial office interior design & cafe interior design

Sales and marketing suite for customers looking to purchase house and land packages through Mojo Homes. The design of the space allows customers to explore and research the home and purchase options through both physical and digital information points. The inspiration centre has a cafe and seating areas, external garden, granny flat with colour and materials inspiration studio, formal and informal sales offices and chlidren’s area.

Sportswear giant Adidas’ streetwear label Y-3 has opened a new store in Westfield Sydney.

Y-3 is a permanent creative brand collaboration between Adidas and renowned Japanese designer – Yohji Yamamoto – which combines fashion sportswear into a wide range of products including sportswear, outerwear, weatherproof pieces, footwear and accessories.

The store design features the brand’s new “art gallery meets sporting arena” concept

The design, created by the Y-3 design team in Tokyo, is clean and understated, and reflects the brand’s pioneering and innovative spirit. The pristine white entrance is offset the building’s bare brick inner wall, signalling the chosen design codes from afar. Distinctly understated, the design also recontextualises, and sometimes playfully so, materials and colours usually found in sporting arenas.

The Great Indoors worked closely with local retailer ‘Sorry Thanks I Love You’ to bring the new Y-3 Adidas store to life In Westfield Sydney.

The Great Indoors were appointed to interpret the new Y-3 retail store design concept and apply their experience in technical documentation skills to develop a thorough construction documentation package and locally source and match the brand’s interior design palette of materials in order for a builder to successfully create the brands 1st store in Australia. The Great Indoors also design managed, worked though retail design approvals with Westfield and Local Authority.

Adidas’ aim is to change the sustainability focus of the fashion industry by their own actions towards the planet. They apply sustainability practice to all facets of the business. There is a key focus on sustainability throughout the use of materials within the store. A sustainable source, recycle and re use strategy is applied to the materials within the store.

The store’s design incorporates several eco-friendly and sustainably sourced materials to its fitout such as cork columns, ceiling structure made entirely pre-fabricated Colourbond steel and Rondo ceiling grid system which are 100 per cent recyclable.

IMA SUSHI - WESTFIELD BONDI JUNCTION

SUSHI TAKE AWAY AND RESTAURANT INTERIOR DESIGN

Project Overview

IMA Sushi is a new food retail concept for eat in and take away sushi.

Project Brief

The Great Indoors (interior design) in partnership with Stevens & Co (brand) were asked to create an exciting new brand and interior design concept from the ground up for a sushi eat in and take away food retail business that is creatively strong and has the ability to be rolled out into multiple site applications. Fast takeaway and dine in concept for sushi that is creatively strong in both brand and interior architecture within an already saturated market with sushi food offers.

The first store is located within fresh food area of Westfield Bondi Junction. The target market is affluent Sydney Eastern Suburbs customer demographic.

The brand uses a punchy red for the logo offset by illustrations of food and Japanese landscapes. The interior concept is bold with black timber. Warmth is introduced using concrete and natural finished grey toned tiles. The counter is punched out using red corian material. The furniture is designed in Australia has been supplied by an Australian owned company.

The concept idea is based on Tokyo living of vibrant neighbourhoods, night life and simple Japanese architecture and natural materials. The interior layout allows a level of food theatre as the sushi is made fresh on site every day at the front counter.

REAL ESTATE INTERIOR DESIGN

O'Gorman & Partners Estate Agency has completed a brand & architectural make over with The Great Indoors (Architecture & Interior Design) Born and Raised (Brand Design)

The site occupies a prominent corner site at 130 Avenue Road, Mosman. The business has been well established within the area for 35 years but was in need of a new brand and complimentary architecture to boost their market position within a very competitive real estate landscape.

The Great Indoors followed key brand concepts created by Born and Raised as inspirational devices to create an interior design of dark warm timber palette and rich materials whilst anchoring an informal client reception space with private & semi private meeting rooms, kitchen and work space leading to revitalised outdoor space. The clients decision was a forward thinking one to change their service model and move their sales team up to the 1st floor area.

The external facade has been re designed with the new brand signage integrated into the architectural treatments. The external windows have been updated to focus on digital screens and provide views into the inviting new interior space. A new entrance mat imbeds the brand signage with bronze into a mosaic floor as a 'welcome' sign to the new estate agency.

Sales & Marketing Suite - Real Estate Interior Design

Our project approach was focused on putting the customer at the forefront of the experience.

A series of customer journeys formed a framework for the layout and individual neighbourhoods a customer may visit and follow upon the sales journey and path to purchase.

The interior design concepts flowed from the natural materials and beauty of the new urban and living development proposed in south western Sydney.

Brand and digital elements communicated and supported the sales team and customer during the exploration and purchase of land and sales packages.

RESTAURANT & HOSPITALITY INTERIOR DESIGN

The iconic Boatshed Cafe building sits at the southern end of Anzac Parade and directly anchors itself into the beach of Frenchmans Bay The internal dining areas and the external deck area provide stunning views across Botany Bay Sydney. The site is located within the Botany Bay Conservation Area.

The project involved a complete restoration of the building and adjacent deck area and interior fit out. The new concept inspiration and material finishes is influenced by the previous use of the building as a storage facility for boats with the interior restaurant given the feeling of being immersed within a boat building framework.

The Great Indoors worked closely with a bespoke furniture designer, Rory Unite to ensure architecture, interior design & furniture felt seamless within the design aesthetic and customer experience.

The external decked area provides an all weather dining experience with the new pergola and retractable roof. This allows the operator to increase the amount of customers able to enjoy the location given it’s seasonal location.

The Boatshed is a licenced cafe with a dine in or take away food & refreshment offer.

SERVICE RETAIL INTERIOR DESIGN

The Great Indoors and Designworks have collaborated with Officeworks to create a retail journey that allows people to discover and learn the new limits of what’s possible in printing.

Officeworks is taking Australian retail in a bold new direction with their innovative 3D Experience Centre.

Launched at its Russell Street store in Melbourne, it’s the first of its kind for any major retailer Australia.

The highly knowledgeable staff educates and facilitates the opportunity to experience the products that include Mini Me 3D printing photo booth, 3D models, 3D printer hardware, consumables and 3D scanning.

Designed with a warm palette, 3D pixel elements, large-scale wall graphic and sophisticated materiality that meets environmental industry standards. The design reflects Officeworks’ unique retail personality while giving the new store experience it’s own original character.

The response of the opening of Officeworks’ 3D Experience Centre has been overwhelmingly positive; people have approached the technology with open minds and have experienced what 3D printing can offer them and have scanned and printed hundreds of 3D Mini Me’s.

FASHION RETAIL INTERIOR DESIGN

One of Sydney’s newest interior design studios, The Great Indoors, has created a luxurious and dramatic new store for North American eyewear and contacts online giant, Clearly.

The Great Indoors design director, Lee Hopkinson, was thrilled to undertake the design of Clearly’s first Australian bricks and mortar store sited under The Ivy, which opened on 20 March 2014.

The store design reflects the luxe location and is inspired by the activity and nightlife of the area with a key aspect of the design being that the store needed to be both beautiful and functional in the day and a visual attraction at night.

Working in partnership with The General Store, Hopkinson created a theatrical showpiece based on a disco mirror ball.

The centrepiece is a series of small reflective mirror boxes displaying single pairs of glasses and mirror panels resting on a raised circular platform.

After dark, the store comes alive with a coloured lighting sequence and the raised platform featuring the mirror ball display rotates. This has a stunning effect of refracting coloured light out of the store into the streetfront, just like a disco ball.

The Grocers Pantry is an exciting new eat in grocers market place offer recently opened at Warringah Mall as part of the New Scentre Group Development of the shopping centre.

The Great Indoors (Architecture & Interior Design) and Born & Raised (Branding Communications Agency) teamed up with Top Juice to create a holistic branded environments design that celebrates the love of food and creates an 'earth to table' food experience.

The offer is driven by Top Juice founder Ali Sawan and Top Juice GM Barry Barber and their passion and love for providing fresh quality produce through a boutique retail fruit and veg offer, deli counter, high quality cooking ingredients combined with an eat in food and beverage. Tommaso Ragusa provides the food culinary experience creating a diversified menu and eating experience within a shopping centre precinct.

Piccolos by Plume is a cafe interior design refurbishment of an existing cafe in Darling Street Rozelle, Sydney.

The brief was to restyle and design to tight budget a new look cafe interior and external rear courtyard. The heritage listed shopfront cafe has external footpath seating. The design elements are to introduce new brand colour highlights, new seating and new service counter and food presentation.

The menu has been given a makeover too by the new operators Plume Cafe.

TSUBU SUSHI & PLUME COFFEE BAKERY KIOSK

Sushi, Bakery & Coffee sit together under a refurbished kiosk and pergola.

Tsube Sushi and Plume Coffee and Bakery Kiosk sit in freestanding central kiosk refurbishment. The project is an architectural renovation of the kiosk pergola with cafe interior design elements within Liverpool Hospital’s lush green courtyard. The kiosk offers both sushi takeaway under the brand ‘Tsubu Sushi’ and coffee and bakery products under the ‘Plume’ cafe brand.

REAL ESTATE INTERIOR DESIGN

NNW Property is a family owned real estate and property management business in Sydney’s northwest. The brand, interior design & architectural concepts were developed by The Great Indoors (Architecture & Interior Design) Born and Raised (Brand Design)

The corner site opposite Epping Railway Station is an original building with a detailed brick facade and retail units at street level. The business was looking to make better use of the building internally for their new office space and client reception whilst having the opportunity to be able to open new retail units that could be leased separately and provide another income stream.

The interior design of darker warm timbers cladding the walls and the reception desk and complimentary interior finishes and fixtures create a sense of luxury and comfort. The external facade has been repainted with the new brand signage added to the facade, window treatments and flags topping the building. Digital screens have been added to street frontage windows. Staff uniforms have been updated to celebrate and communicate the new contemporary brand.

WORKPLACE OFFICE INTERIOR DESIGN

The Great Indoors has recently worked with JLL project and construction management team to deliver a successful workplace design fit out to accommodate 200+ staff team for the global information services company, Wolters Kluwer.

Wolters Kluwers workplace fit out is designed to function two floor levels of more than 2000 sqm of the Astra Zeneca building in Macquare Park, Sydney. A balance is set across the two floors for staff cafe, open plan work areas including sit to stand work options, meeting rooms, quiet rooms, reception, staff locker zones, break out lounges and team work areas.

OFFICE INTERIOR DESIGN ROSEBERY

National retail eyeware brand ‘Eyecare Plus’ engaged The Great Indoors team to deliver spatially well planned two storey warehouse office interior design project in the heart of Rosebery, Sydney.

The interior design project allows open plan office area, in house optometry conference and training room, kitchen with open plan meeting tables and a communal hub for staff and guests.

The design and project challenge was to deliver a revitalised workable office area over two floors within a modest budget allowance.

Samsung Business Experience centre located at Samsung’s headquarters in Sydney Olympic Park.

The new Samsung head office in Homebush features a ground-floor experiential showroom for business customers that showcases the full product range across three distinct areas: Retail, Connected Home and Lifestyle.

The interior has warm, natural materials integrated with highlights of the Samsung brand colours with reference to contemporary Korean architecture.

The showroom features an integrated and tangible digital and retail experience, utilising the Samsung Stechtile technology.

A key design feature is the mirror-box custom chandelier to draw customers to the technology display area.

Clarke & Humel completed a brand & architectural interior design project with The Great Indoors (Architecture & Interior Design) and Born and Raised (Brand Design)

The project involved complete brand refresh, redesigning a new commercial retail site and repurposing this into a highly functional real estate office for a growing local northern beaches family owned and managed business.

Key brand concepts created by Born and Raised provided inspiration to create a unique hosting reception for clients and staff. The cost emphasis was place on developing a beautiful warm timber framed reception area with brand highlight colours and an exposed loft style ceiling. An open plan office and workplace environment for 30 plus staff was created for sales and property management teams.

The project was built on time and budget by Enhanced Space projects under a very tight and demanding deadline.

The existing external facade was reskinned with new signage and material treatments.

CONTEMPORARY AND INVITING, THE NEW KFC FAST-CASUAL RESTAURANT CONCEPT CATERS TO YOUNG URBANITES.

KFC has joined the current trend of fast-casual restaurants and created a new concept store offering a more varied menu of burgers, burritos and salads to capture the young urban crowd.

The Great Indoors teamed with branding and design agency, Designworks to deliver a holistic brand experience and spatial design.

Warm timber, black industrial metal, concrete and highlights of the KFC red brand colour combine with hyper modern graphics to create an enticing environment.

The success of the new store has seen the concept expand into other urban centres across Australia.

FOOD RETAIL QSR INTERIOR DESIGN

New concept design store for KFC opened in Manly. The store design is sympathetic to the original heritage building. The design connects with the local Manly surrounding using an urban Manly beach landscape graphic across the external windows facing the Manly Wharf Bar.

A carefully considered design using a combination of warm timber external and interior architecture elements injected with key KFC brand elements and KFC highlight colour 'red'.

As a case study the store footprint is globally one of the smallest KFC's. The project challenged a number of aspects including spatial constraints, kitchen design, existing base building restrictions, services design, customer accessibility, council and heritage requirements.

The concept works in line with the new brand direction ‘Aussie Legends’ to revitalise the Red Rooster brand in bringing customers the best food & dining experience for roast chicken offer in Australia. Red Rooster also offers the capacity for drive thru & home delivery.

The concepts challenges the previous design formats, kitchen layouts and store efficiencies. The new design format has been creatively explored within a free standing store & refurbishment of an existing food tenancy for both initial sites.

MYUNG JANG DISTRICT DINING CHATSWOOD

Korean BBQ Restaurant Design

Traditional Korean interior design with a modern contemporary twist and warm timber and brick tiles is the basis for Korean restaurant design concept. Simple Korean influenced timber roof structures with traditional Korean roof tiles create a playful streetscape. The location is District Dining precinct at Chatswood interchange.

The project challenges were to reuse a previous wood fired pizza restaurant and build a new raised floor with access entrance ramp and stair. The raised floor has been built to accommodate the landlords criteria to have the bbq exhaust within the floor structure. The budget was assisted by the re use of the previous tenants commercial kitchen and services.

한국식 바베큐 레스토랑 디자인

모던한 현대적 감각과 따뜻한 목재와 벽돌 타일을 사용한 전통적인 한국 인테리어 디자인은 한식당 디자인 컨셉의 기초입니다. 한국 전통 기와를 사용한 심플한 한국식 목조 지붕 구조가 장난기 가득한 거리 풍경을 연출합니다. 위치는 Chatswood 인터체인지의 디스트릭트 다이닝 구역입니다.

프로젝트 과제는 이전에 장작으로 구운 피자 레스토랑을 재사용하고 진입로와 계단이 있는 이중 바닥을 새로 짓는 것이었습니다. 이중 바닥은 바닥 구조 내에서 바베큐 배기가 있어야 하는 집주인의 기준을 수용하도록 만들어졌습니다. 예산은 이전 세입자의 상업용 주방 및 서비스를 재사용하여 지원되었습니다.
